Birth of Indian Premier League

On this day, in 2008, the first ever IPL match was held between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore, at M Chinnasamy Stadium in Bangalore. IPL has became one of the largest T20 domestic leagues over the years with the greatest ever fan following for each and every IPL team. The idea of telecasting during summer season in India, particularly including 8pm matches for the comfort of office goers and a greatest ever league with fun, joy, happiness, heartbreaks, tension, pressure etc. Also, the two months of IPL is just a festival for all cricket fans out there.

IPL has been a platform for national selection. Also, at many cases, the selectors have opted to choose some players based on performances of IPL and also many players have made comeback to the national side with the performance of IPL. Also, getting auctioned for a IPL team, and getting a chance to play for that team and performing well, establishes the player to all over the world. Even a local player, gets fame due to IPL. It had provided life and career for many cricketers. IPL has been divided into eight different cities of different culture, where all teams fight for one trophy. During 2011, it had 10 teams while in 2012 and 2013, it had 9 teams. Again from 2014, it has reduced to regular 8 teams.

Even Virat Kohli, the greatest ever in the world in all formats of the game, got bit recognition due to IPL. During IPL days, the social media is lit up in fire. Also, a major negative is that, now Indian players have got separated by their fans, where these fight to defend their player and these fans fight in social media, which weren't there before IPL. Also, if something is bigger in popularity, it is also bigger in oppositions. IPL has faced much controversies over the years. Many players were banned lifetime in cricket due to spot fixing and betting cases, as the craze is much bigger in IPL than international cricket.

Still, it remains the biggest domestic T20 league in the world. Even, due to corona pandemic, IPL was postponed and people were having an imaginable virutal match in social media, as per the schedule and fans fights were followed which shows the greatest reach among the hearts of each and every cricket fans in India and also all over the world. I personally myself want corona pandemic to end and the situation sjhould turn normal all over the world.
