Happy Birthday Stuart Broad
Stuart Broad was born June 24, 1986, at Nottingham. His father Chris Broad, who were also a cricketer and an opening batsman, motivated him on pursuing a career in cricket. He started to played cricket for Leicestershire Club at the age of 9. From the age of 9 to 19, he impressed with both bat and ball. Until the age of 17, he followed his father's footsteps of playing as an opening batsman and also opened the innings twice for Leicestershire. He then switched from being an opening batsman to a fast bowler. He is a tall right arm fast bowler who bats at No.9 Position for his team. In the year 2005, he was selected at England's U-19 Squad and he was in the 25-men development squad of England. He made his debut for England, in a T20 match against Pakistan. He made his ODI Debut, in the same series against Pakistan and his Test Debut in 2007. He was seen as a promising cricketer for future, who could bowl at a pace of 140 km/h above. Also, he had created a mark that he could bat at lower order England in Test Cricket, with few making him compared with Garfield Sobers.
He had missed out 2006 Champions Trophy, but he was included midway in 2006-07 Commonwealth Bank Series. In 2007 World Twenty20, he was seen smashed by Yuvraj Singh, for 6 sixes in an over, becoming the first in T20 Cricket to do so. This hitting has still been in memories of many cricketers.
Right from the start, he had a mixed career in Limited Overs Format with injuries and a struggling economy rate. But, in Test Cricket, he has been one of the best in the World.
Even, in the 2009 T20 World Cup, Netherlands won the match against England, with their team scoring winning runs in the final over which were bowled by Stuart Broad. His numbers in English wicket were quite impressive whereas in sub continent conditions, he was seen struggling fairly a bit.
He had been a part of England team in both successful times and at failure times. He is one of the fast bowlers, who could swing at both ways, who could reverse swing when the ball gets old, who can deliver deadly bouncers and toe crushers and also can bowl slowers balls. His deliveries aren't been judged as his fingers and his wrist does the job. He maintains with a same constant bowling action, but his quick wrist action and a different grip.
In 2009 Ashes series, he made his Ashes debut for England and been so impressive both with the ball and with the bat. He claimed two five wicket haul innings in this series and scored 234 runs with the bat and claimed 128 wickets with the ball.
His career can be split into before 2011 Cricket World Cup and after 2011 Cricket World Cup. In the later part, he has been bit struggling in the Limited overs format. He had been named as Captain of England during 2014 ICC World Twenty20, in which his team was seen eliminating in the group stage. Also, he had a poor run in 2015 Cricket World Cup and this meant his last appearance in limited overs format.
But, his test cricket were in peak. During the tour of India at 2011, there were speculations that he won't be selected for the series. But, he was selected in the squad where he scored two half centuries and picked up 7-74 in the first test and 6-46 in the second test. In the second test, he also claimed his first hattrick dismissing Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Harbhajan Singh and Praveen Kumar.
In 2015 Ashes Series, he claimed his career best figures of 8-15 which helped in bowling out Australia for mere 60 runs. His numbers were so important. Playing 138 Tests, he scored 3,211 runs with an highest score of 169 and claimed 485 wickets, In One Day Internationals, he played 121 matches claiming 178 wickets.
At 2018 tour of India, Broad and Andreson tailled up 850 test wickets, playing together for 111 test matches. Third best on the list of bowling pairs, only after Glenn McGrath - Shane Warne, and Muttiah Muralitharan - Chaminda Vaas.
The combo of him and Anderson's threatens the opposition to bat. Raw pace bowling stuff from both of them.
