Ban of Alex Hales from 2019 World Cup
On this day, last year Alex Hales was banned for a period of 21 days, which was extended till WC 2019, missing out a greatest cricketing event. He was tested positive for intake of recreational drugs in hair follicle test, which violates the laws of ICC and England and Wales Cricket Board.
As per the rules of England and Wales Cricket Board, every player is tested for intake of drugs before and after each and every series. He/She should submit his hair follicle samples to the board, and in those samples it will clearly state the use of recreational drugs even its after 3 months of usage. It is firstly constituted by ICC and then each and every international cricket boards should follow this to promote, anti - doping, clean and genuine form of cricket. ICC monitors a player from once he is selected in International cricket, and is allowed only if he/she provides a clearly stated medical reason for usage of a particular drug.
He/she is away from monitoring when he haven't any form of international cricket for past 2 years or he/she announced his retirement. But, when that person wanted to cancel his retirement and comes back to international cricket, he/she should provide a cleared certificate of passing these tests to both their country's board and ICC. Prominent players like Shakib Al Hasan, Andre Russell, Prithvi Shaw have been got caught and been banned for a period of time in International Cricket.
In the case of Alex Hales, he had already been banned an year before for involving in a street fight along with Ben Stokes. But, during April 2019, he was been away from domestic county cricket due to personal reasons. But there were questions raised whether he had any intake of recreational drugs, and he was mended to submit his hair follicle tests, which stated positive and at first, it was announced just for a period of 21 days, which was exactly today, last year. But, then it was extended till the end of WC, as he will 2019 WC and the series against Ireland and Pakistan. It would have painful as he was named in the last 15 member squad but then being axed due to doping. He has been phenomenal in English cricket for past half a decade, which would have become a big blow.
I personally weren't wanted to speak about this topic, rewinding the dark side of him. But, every field has both light and dark sides and many who are related to the lighter side never speak about the other one. So, it would be a informatory piece of article. From then, he didn't play international and he is expecting to make a comeback in this year's T20 World Cup, but right now, due to the outbreak of corona pandemic, T20 WC maybe postponed to next year, as it hasn't reduced.
