Once Upon a Time in IPL....

When there are national issues between two countries, it affects, impacts in each and every field, and nowhere sport is an exclusion. At both the nations, cricket is seen as more than their life, and the craze among the people is huge, as both nations were leading the table in ranking. Both countries in general are at tough times. This difference had started from 1947, where during Partition of Pakistan from India, with respect to claim Kashmir and India claimed most of it. This created a rift and still both governments are maintaining distances without any close relationships.

As an example, in cricket, for a large period of time, there weren't any bilateral series between both the nations since 2006 (excluding 2012-13 series). Even when Pakistan win in India, or vice versa, there would be tight security provided for players of both the teams. Also, there were many moments to be forget in cricket. Only twice, there were sportsmanship moments between them and both were held at Chennai (reason for calling Chennai fans as "The Most Knowledgeable Crowd).

But in IPL, during the first inaugral edition, in 2008, Pakistani players were allowed to participate along with other Overseas players. Teams like Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Daredevils, Deccan Chargers and Rajasthan Royals picked Pakistani players. But there weren't any fight between them, instead it was pure fun and joy. Both Indian and Pakistani cricketers were having joy and fun on the field with much friendship moments. I still remember, Rohit Sharma and Shahid Afridi, both were batting together and building up a partnership, which were a pure bliss to watch. Also, it showed that nationalism and politics are no related to friendship in Sports. Also, Sohail Tanvir had won the purple cap for Rajasthan Royals. Even many players were seen in full joy without any negotiations and fights in cricket on field. Also, all IPL teams retained Pakistani players for next IPL season, until BCCI and PCB came under a conclusion to nevertheless allow Pakistani cricketers from participating in IPL. Why this had happened ?

During the end of the year 2008, there were 12 bomblasts at Mumbai and was found that it was done by Terrorists belonging to Lashkar-e-Taibha, a terrorist organisation belonging to Pakistan. Due to this reason, IPL prevented Pakistani players to enter, as when Pakistani players play, their fans would come and watch cricket matches, in which some terrorists would enter indirectly and execute a plan in India which the security might not be aware of, whereas when there is a regular entry of Pakistanis, a tight security check is imposed on. Also, the security provided to players of both the nations are immense, especially for also Pakistani players, as if anything happens to any of the Pakistani players, it not just affects cricket, but entire country. So, national issues impacted on sportsmanship of cricket and is still infiltrating. When the negotiations gets over, everything will surely come to normal. Or if any of both the nations host a bilateral tours in near future, it would become normal in cricket. But still again it comes to the security of players belonging to both the nations. So the tension should get calmed off, which will bring peace and healthier atmosphere in cricket field and also in other fields
