Steve Waugh vs Curtly Ambrose

In cricketing history, there are many fights, sledging moments, high intense moments between teams. Particularly, the fight between the batsman and the bowler is so immense to watch for any cricket fan out there in the world. One of the most memorable and a base setting up fight was held in 1995 at Trinidad, during 3rd test of Australia tour of West Indies series, on this day. It was between the greatest legendary fast bowler Curtly Ambrose and one of the greatest Australian batter Steve Waugh.

Let us first look into the history, which might tell the clear story of this.  Steve Waugh, regarded as one pf the greatest, has been dismissed 16 times in his entire career by Ambrose. The tall, pace bowler, who were feared by all the batsmen in the world, for his gripping speed and a string of bouncers, had better of him. During 1992-93, when Steve Waugh made his comeback and wanted to restrain his position in the national side, they played series against West Indies, where Ambrose dismissed him constantly and only during the final test, he batted well and scored a century which was again eventually ruined by Ambrose.

During this test match in 1995, at Trinidad, the pitch was bowlers' paradise particularly for the seamers. Australians were struggling and bowled out for 128 runs where only Steve Waugh stood like a rock, scored 63 runs without being dismissed. During this match, there were furious high tension moments between Ambrose and Steve Waugh. After bowling a terrific bouncer against Steve Waugh, he stared him and few words were exchanged. Only the Windies Captain Richardson intervened and pulled off Ambrose back.

Ambrose, in his biography stated that, it was Kenny Benjamin, who while going to the dressing room said that Steve Waugh sworn at him. Curtly Ambrose, while bowling a massive delivery, stared him and went. But in his mind, it was full of this thought, which he went to Steve Waugh and asked " Did you sworn at me ? " and which he replied  "I can say what I want to say" which furiated Curtly Ambrose and he wanted to knock his head. But Steve Waugh, batted out and got over of him.

In Australian media;s version, Ambrose had abused Steve Waugh, where he started to sworn him and then the following incident went on. Eventually in the end, West Indies had won the Test Match by 9 wickets but after a week, Steve Waugh scored a double century, and Australia ended their winning streak in Test Cricket.
