Happy Birthday Pollard

Pollard is known for hitting big sixes and his greatest finishes in T20 cricket. For each and every IPL fans, Pollard's name will be surely in their brain. Not only IPL, but also in many domestic t20 leagues, he had created a mark of his own, staging a platform.

On this day, in 1987, Kieron Pollard was born in Trinidad and Tobago. He made his international ODI debut in the year 2007 against South Africa. A tall, 6.5 foot, destructive all rounder who bats right handed and bowls right arm medium deliveries, is specially made for hitting big sixes and also for the greatest catches scalped on the field. He had represented many T20 domestic teams all around the world like Tribago Knight Riders, Somerset, Mumbai Indians, Barbados Tridents, Cape Cobras, Peshwar Zaimi, Dhaka Dynamites etc...
His numbers weren't quite impressive in ODI cricket, but whenever the team needs, he strikes.

Also, in his experience, he played 2011, 2015 and 2019 WC tournaments, along with 2009, 2012, 2014, 2016 T20 World Cups, and 2009, 2013 Champions Trophy, showing the way West Indies Cricket Board believed in him. He scored around 2,496 runs in 113 ODI matches, along with 1,123 runs in 73 T20Is. Also, he is the first player to feature in 500 Twenty20 Matches and also he scored 10,000 runs in this format.

When we come and look into the numbers of him in Indian Premier League, he was so phenomenal. For past 10 years, Mumbai Indians have backed him quite well. His best were the knocks in the IPL finals, in 2013 and 2019, saving their team Mumbai Indians from a collapse and eventually help them in their victories. Also, he had featured in the four IPL Wins of Mumbai Indians. He had even led the side for a single match, in which he also won the match for the side by his fiery 83 off 31 balls.

In the year 2019, he was named as captain of West Indies team in limited overs format, and his captaincy record weren't poor and also in this situation, he is the right man to lead his side, which is already in consequences. Just a outlet, of his captaincy. Before the tour against Sri Lanka in 2020, West Indies have won just 2 T20Is in the last whole year. But, on this tour, he eventually he led the side to series win with a white wash. In ODIs, he captaincy was good especially against Afghanistan, where he whitewashed the side. Also, during a situation, where at Cuttack, he needs to defend a score of 316 against India, to seal the victory in a purely batting wicket, where even 360 would be a simple score. But, Pollard led his side well and almost dragged the match till 48th over, with a tactical plan of placing fielders on off side, into the circle and threatened the batsmen to score runs. He was even so calm while leading the side, without any aggression on the field.

He is so powerful, strong, gigantic, who clears the boundary comfortably without showing much effort in striking the ball, but with calm placement. A living example of showing West Indies cricket, and their standards. In future, he will surely bring his side back to the old form.
