Imposition of new rules by ICC

Today, ICC Cricketing Committee headed by Anil Kumble, imposed rules for further cricket in a most safe manner. As already, football has begun, cricket is being planned for a kick start, right from the end of June. ICC has started to work in a full fledged manner, with promoting a preventive form of game. They discussed with Dr. Peter Harcourt, the Chairman of ICC Medical Advisory Team, along with the guidelines issued by Johns Hopkins University and World Health Organisation (WHO).

* Usage of Saliva is prohibited

Generally, bowlers use some saliva to spin/swing the ball. The saliva is also used for the shining the ball, which particularly the fast bowlers tend to hit harder the pitch, and which resulting in oldness of the ball. Also, it is used at one side of the ball to grip and also to determine the angle of the swing to be created by the ball. The usage of saliva either in the cricket ball or even spitting on the ground is prohibited, since the COVID-19 virus, can spread easily from one to another via saliva

* Sweat, an alternate for saliva

Also, bowlers use sweat for shine. Dr. Peter Harcourt explained that the spreading of virus is very high in saliva, while it won't be spread via sweat. it might seem partly to be a good option for bowlers, as some conditions support while some conditions won't. Also, many said that the future of cricket will purely be based on batsman's game. But, I personally felt that this is a good option for a period of time, as more than cricket it is necessary for the goodness of cricketers. Prevention is better than cure. But, this pandemic should end soon.

* No neutral umpires

During the period of 1990s, Imran Khan, the then Captain of Pakistan cricket team, started to voice out for the inclusion of neutral umpires which the ICC followed and completely imposed the rule of umpires from neutral, at 2002. Till now, in Tests, 3 umpires were appointed from ICC Panel while the last will be from the host cricket board. Whereas in ODIs, one on field umpire and third umpire will be from ICC Panel and in T20Is, all four were from the hosts umpire. But, now the local umpires will feature in the match. Simply, the umpires will be from the host team. It is because of the travel restrictions and impostions made by various governments.

*Inclusion of an extra review

Additional DRS review has been allocated per teams. Previously, in Tests, they had two reviews per team which for a longer format, would be very low in number. But, now an extra review will be benifitted for both the sides
