Wasim Akram Hattrick at 1990

On this day, at 1990, Pakistan played against Australia in Austral - Asia Cup, at Sharjah. Pakistan won the toss and elected to  bat first. Pakistan made 266/7 at the end of 50 overs, which were so big on those days against the deadly pace attack of Australia. Also, after a good start, they started to struggle at 179/6 but ended well due to late surge by Wasim Akram, scoring 49*(35) with 3 sixes.
Same kind of situation for Australian team, with after a good start, then struggling at mid overs, but maintained their run rate well in a chase. They were 230/7 at the end of 46 overs, when Wasim Akram came into bowl. At the third delivery of the over, he came around the wicket, created an angle moving into the batsman, and first bowled Merv Hughes, by dislodging his off stump. Next ball, is faced by Carl Reckman. Again, same line same angle, but this time with more deviation making the ball come into the batsman. Leg stump is broken in half !! Dismissed two wickets in two balls. Third ball, if Australia loses his wicket, Pakistan would seal the Austral Asia Cup. Bowler Alderman was at strike, He again came around the stumps. Alderman without any clue just started to come down the ground, which was noticed by Wasim Akram. Bowled !! A straight yorker delivery rattled his stumps. Pakistan won by 36 runs. Australia were all out for 230. Man of the match was given to Wasim Akram for his all round show of 49*(35) & 3/45 in 8.5 overs.

We have heard much about Wasim Akram, about his bowling, pace deliveries. It was just rattling the tail enders but if he didn't do so, Australia would have won the game, as both Ian Healy and Merv Hughes were be able to pull off the game quite easily as both are capable of doing it. Wasim is the only man to have taken two hat-tricks in Tests and one-day internationals, and the first hattrick of him in his career is this. It also posted a description to how to bowl to tail enders, as they are the most unpredictable players. For players, who could well bat can be snapped by a particular trick but for tail enders, they just play on their own without any particular skill or technique, and for them yorkers and stump to stump line deliveries are the best, which was proved here. Many might say, slower balls are also great deliveries in death overs but for tail enders, they might be swinging their bat as like they wish, and these slower ones have just 50% probability of going perfect, whereas if it goes wrong, the ball might well go for boundaries in crucial period.

He is one among the greatest fast bowlers in the cricketing history and is still regarded as an inspiration for Pakistani seamers. One incident of him, in his early career came from this hattrick.
