Lankan, Dutch and Barbadian
On this day, three players have born. All three were different from each and there isn't any co relating factor in connecting these three men. But, these three men were instrumental in their own team's successes. Also, all three have dominated the eras of 1990, 2000 and 2010, whilst some have been featured in two decades. They have a respective place in their national team. A destructive opener, a dedicated all rounder and a spearhead pacer. All three have changed in some or either way, their mindsets of cricket.
Sanath Jayasuriya, 1969
Sanath Jayasuriya was born on 30th June, 1969, at Matara in the country of Sri Lanka. He made his debut at 1989, eight years after Sri Lankan team got Test Status. Till 1993, he was a member, who would in and out of the team with due respect towards his performances. But, Arjuna Ranatunga, the then Lankan Captain, introduced him as an opener at ODI and Test Cricket. He is one of the greatest Lankan cricket had ever produced, and he changed the course of game. Usually, an Indian fan praises Virender Sehwag for his attacking starts and his intent of going out to the field and just smash the ball. Also, many teams in the modern era, tries to score quick runs, in the early Powerplay overs, by getting full use of the fielding restrictions. All were started from this man, Sanath Jayasuriya. He was the one who planted seed for this intent and game. His game is just attack the bowlers and disturb the new ball swing. Glenn McGrath in one of his interviews, mentioned that " Sanath Jayasuriya has revolutionized Cricket". Usually, teams tend to play slowly at the start, to build a good platform for the team's success. But, he started to attack the bowlers right from the first ball of the innings, which made much miracles. Also, right in this era, it is bit easy to score quick runs in the early overs, as there were Powerplay restrictions imposed on fielding team, and this is a period of time, where batting does the domination. But, on those days, without any Powerplay restrictions, with the likes of Glenn McGrath, Wasim Akram, Waquar Younis, Curtley Ambrose, Brett Lee, Javagal Srinath etc. he created the magic, which is even more priceless. He was so instrumental in Sri Lankan's first title triumph, at 1996, with scoring quick runs at the start, setting up a base for their team's batting. Also, he was awarded "Man of the Tournament". Apart from batting, he was a good bowler with a neat all rounder skills and also a decent captain. Till his end of his career, he played on attacking mode for Sri Lankan Cricket. He held the record for scoring fastest 50, fastest 100, second most number of 150+ scores (4 occasions). He scored 50 off just 19 balls but it was broke by Ab de Villiers. His fastest century came off 48 balls which was broken by Shahid Afridi and then Ab de Villiers. He held the record for scoring his individual score in ODI and Tests by an Sr Lankan, with 189* and 340 respectively. His highest individual ODI score is still needed to be rifted while his test score was broke by Mahela Jayawardene at 2006. An ambush Left Handed Batsman and a decent left arm bowler. Also, in his bowling, he was the one to introduce quicker deliveries to the modern cricket world. He is the only player in One Day Cricket to score 13,000 more runs and picking up 300+wickets. He had made the second most appearences in One Day cricket with 445 matches. He has an overall of 47 centuries, under his belt. He got award for Wisden Leading Cricketer of the Year in 1996. Under his leadership, Sri Lankan team qualified till the semi finals of 2003 Cricket World Cup. He has scored around 21,000 international runs with across three formats. At 2007, he announced his retirement from Test Cricket to focus more on limited overs format. At 2009, he scored a century against India, which held the record for the most aged batsman to score a century. This was further broke by Khurram Khan of UAE. In 2011, at the age of 42, he made his comeback to feature in Sri Lankan team in the tour against England. He had played till the age of 43, with being a part in 2012 inaugral Srilankan domestic T20 Season.
Then, he was appointed as Chairman of Selectors. Under his selection, Sri Lanka team won 2014 T20 World Cup, 2014 Asia Cup and also 2014 test series whitewash against England at their soil. But, whitewash against India, and exit from 2015 World Cup at quarter finals ensured his resignation. Again, after a year, he was selected as Chairman of Selectors, where his team got shuffles much, with many getting their test caps. Also, his team failed miserably. But, right now whatever the case maybe, his records are still destructive and truly a legend.
Ryan Tendoeschate, 1980
Ryan Tendoeschate was born at South Africa, who played domestic cricket for Essex and represented Dutch cricket team. Changing his national team from one another, is quite crucial and the effects of it is either known or unknown. But, he had done tremendous work in shaping his career. He was awarded ICC Associate Player of the Year at 2008, 2010 and 2011. He was phenomenal cricketer for Netherlands Cricket Team, where he was part of his team's success, especially the upset against England in 2009 T20 World Cup, at Lords. He was unlucky, as his team weren't featuring in Test Cricket. But, his ODI numbers are well acclaimed and he was the first associate player to feature in Indian Premier League. Basically, when it comes to the opinion of Associate Nation or Associate Cricketer, they just ignore them as they can't be much more impressive than the International Cricketers. He changed this mindset, by his fair enough performances at New Zealand's domestic t20 leagues, Indian Premier League. He can do both batting and bowling and a decent all rounder. One thing we need not forget is that Associate nations were the real under dogs who could create miracle. In 2011 Cricket World Cup, he scored 2 centuries along with Sachin Tendulkar and Ab de Villiers. A right handed batsman who usually bats at middle order position.
In 2017, he was recalled to the national team almost after 6 years to help Netherlands to reach 2019 World Cup. Although, it didn't qualify, the confidence he created was huge in number. In 33 ODIs, he scored 1,541 runs with 9 fifties and 5 hundreds at an high score of 119. He also claimed 55 wickets. In T20Is, he played 22 matches with scoring 533 runs and picking 12 wickets.
If he were in either his mother nation South Africa, or his domestic nation England, he would have got much recognition. But, he still he decided to play for Netherlands to promote their development shows his passion towards the sport. Also, domestic leagues, all across the world should draft players from associate nations which will surely help in evolution of cricket, with adding further more teams to create an exciting contest among each and every nations.

Also, he had been leading wicket taker for West Indies, during 2010, 2011 respectively. Although his T20 career didn't last long, his One Day and Test Career shows the bright future of West Indies under a slump. He is known for his bouncers, and breath taking inswingers. He had subsequently served his nation for 12 years, with him featured at 2009 T20 World Cup, 2010 T20 World Cup, 2011 Cricket World Cup, 2012 T20 World Cup, 2013 Champions Trophy, 2014 T20 World Cup, 2015 Cricket World Cup, 2016 T20 World Cup and even recently 2019 Cricket World Cup.
