WI vs ENG, 2019 Cricket World Cup

When a very big tournament is happening, there will be thriller matches, one sided games, some with pure domination of one over another, some will get abandoned, while some matches get more hype due to a single incident occurred in it. But, here is a match where sheer planning and execution with much more technical stuffs won the game from one another. West Indies team met England at Southampton, exactly an year ago. Southampton is a kind of wicket, where fast bowlers get much support.

England have won the toss and decided to bowl first. Right from the start, England team dominated the West Indies team, with snatching 3 quick wickets for just 55 runs in 13.4 overs. Also, they had a clean with making a batsman to used to play many balls with same line and length, where the batsmen like Lewis got used and then a sudden change in line and length, caused the wickets of Evin Lewis and Shai Hope. Chris Gayle played a bit well, but his scalp even more taster, with picking him in a short ball delivery! This shows the pace at which English Bowlers bowled in the match. They didn't compromise on pace. But, after the loss of 3 wickets, Nicholas Pooran and Shimron Hetmyer, built a neat partnership with playing much drives and also didn't compromise on run rate factor. They were maintaining a perfect run rate. Eoin Morgan, brought in spin attacks, Adil Rashid and Joe Root. Joe Root was an occasional bowler, but in his over, he scalped twin wickets of Hetmyer and Holder, in the same over, where bought were caught and bowled. Also, the turning point of the match was at this over. From there, at one end Nicholas Pooran scored a brilliant half century, while at the other end, players were so restless, with keeping their full intent on hitting. Chris Woakes, Jofra Archer, Mark Wood were seemed to be so threatening and just restricted West Indies team by picking all the wickets for 212 runs with just 43 overs finished. Nicholas Pooran top scored for his 63 runs off 78 balls.

When we think about England's batting, Already Jason Roy got injured while fielding, which made him leave the field. So, hence Joe Root opened the innings along with Johnny Bairstow. I had a doubt that usually Jason Roy and Johnny Bairstow tend to play so quick by attacking the opposition bowlers during the start of the game, whereas Joe Root takes a bit time and plays calm innings. So, the question in mu mind was will this work out ?.

But, Joe Root answered Yes with his so much flamboyance. West Indies team were famous for restricting opposition for poultry scores, and they had beast fast bowling attack. Against them, right from the start, Joe Root attacked with proper textbook cricketing shots. Johnny Bairstow hence were able to play his natural game. Joe Root showed that I can play as I wish with my strong technical batting skills. A pure batsman should be like this, who can switch his gears and should be able to play at any batting positions respectively. Both attacked at the start and played just their normal game, which completely took the game away from West Indies. After Bairstow lost his wicket, surprisingly Chris Woakes were sent at No.3 position. He didn't fail the reputations of Captain, by playing little slowly and attacked the necessary balls bowled to him. Joe Root, at other end were purely unstoppable. He scored century off just 94 balls, shows his pure handling of the game over the Pace Bowlers. Also, this is his second Century in 2019 Cricket World Cup. England won the game comfortably by 8 wickets and 16.5 overs to spare.

Player of the Match Award was given to Joe Root for his all round performance of 2/27 in 5 overs and 100*(94). A complete domination which seemed for some to be an One Sided Game, but its the beauty of One Day Cricket
