Ravindra Jadeja - India's Most Valuable Player

Wisden India, named Ravindra Jadeja, as the "Most Valuable Player" of the Indian Test Cricket Team at 21st Century. We may have known about Jadeja. But, after hearing this news, many would have been in confusion, why Jadeja ? Their comments would be that, he had been just playing a small part of role in Indian Cricket Team. Also, he haven't been the main all rounder. His role is just come into bat, score some important runs, snatch two wickets, does some extraordinary fielding, REPEAT !. Also, at some games, he have been made to sit, rather playing in the 11 member squad. Also, Sanjay Manjarekar, in his tweet, he stated Jadeja as a 'bits and pieces player'.

Here is my explanation, and the reality behind the scenes. In the past four years, Ravindra Jadeja's Test Ranking, have been on the top with gaining No.2 Position at All Rounders Category. Wisden had used CricViz, an analyzing tool to calculate the points he gained and also the impact he created in the team. In the process, he had got 97.2 points, just second to Muttaiah Muralitharan. As an all rounder, his points were impressive.

Another fact, which may raise your eyebrows. His bowling average in Test Cricket of 24.62 is much more greater than the mighty Shane Warne. Whomsoever, would have thought that Jadeja is further more economical than Shane Warne. But, this is a fact. His batting average is 35.26 which is higher than Shane Watson. He has dominated by just doing his sole role in the Indian Cricket Team.

But, whenever he plays, he scores some valuable runs, coming at No.6 and No.7 position. In bowling, he had been a front line spinner for the Indian Cricket Team. Combining ODI and Test, he scored 26 fifties and a single hundred. In tests, he played 49 matches, with picking up 213 wickets and scored 1,869 runs, with 14 fifties and 1 hundred. In his 213 wickets, he had nine 5-wicket hauls with an best bowling figures of 7/48.

His fielding is the most valuable part in his career. At times, he gained his position in the team with his great fielding skills. Indian Cricket Team have produced great fielders. But, most of them would starting to fade away. Whereas, Jadeja's fielding haven't got faded even after so many years.

Aged 31, Jadeja is playing from the year 2009. In this decade, the impact created by Ravindra Jadeja, as an all rounder, is priceless. Underrated but still effective. Congratulations Ravindra Sinh Jadeja !
