2020-21 India's domestic cricket season

As there were COVID-19 cases in India, getting increased day by day, the resumption of cricket is struck. To bring the sports industry, especially cricketing fraternity, back to normal, each and every Board member and its associative members, are taking necessary steps and implement few changes. But, now a major change has been announced in its domestic cricket season.

Vijay Hazare ODI Tournament, along with Deodhar Trophy and Duleep Trophy were set to be axed in this compressed schedule of 2020-21. As per the schedule drawn by, Rahul Dravid, the Head of National Cricket Academy ( NCA ) and the interim IPL CEO, Hemang Amin, the schedule will kickoff with Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy at November 19, with concluding on December 7th. Hence, immediately after IPL, these matched will commence. After the end of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, on December 13th, Ranji Trophy will begin and it gets its final result on 10th of March.

Also, the number of matches were reduced with respect to the previous season, due to the intervention of Corona Virus Pandemic. Ranji Trophy consists of 136 matches, 33 less than previous season, whereas Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy consists of 109 matches, 40 less than the previous time. Other than that, with responding to the travel guidelines, the number of cities, hosting games has been reduced with matches in each group being played at four grounds in two cities. 

For Ranji Trophy, it consists of Groups, A, B, C, D and E. Eight teams will be featuring in the groups A, B and C, while the group D consists of six, seven or eight teams in it. The top two teams in A, B and C will directly qualify for the knockouts. Six Northeastern Teams have been placed in the Group E. With commencing it, the bottom placed team in the Group D, will be moving to Group E, while the top placed team from Group E will be promoted to Group D.

Other than that, a new additional round has been added, where winner of Group D will face the first placed team of Group E, in the pre quarterfinal, where the winner of the of the match will directly qualify for the quarterfinal match.

For Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy, there are 38 teams split up into six teams, with each group's matches were held in two grounds of one single city. 

While, when we talk about women's domestic cricket schedule, as the tour of England has been cancelled with due to COVID 19 Pandemic, a full fledged schedule has been proposed. The ODI League will be played during ( March 17th - April 12, 2021 ), T20 League ( November 1 - 20), U-23 One-Day league (November 30-December 23), U-23 T20 league (January 27 to February 15), U-19 One-Day League (December 29- January 21) and U-19 T20 Trophy (Feb 21 to March 11).
