Former Indian Cricketer, Pratap Singh Chauhan, officially known as Chetan Chauhan, has died due to COVID_19, at the age of 73. During previous month, he was tested COVID_19 Positive. Then he was shifted to Gurugram, after his condition worsened. As a result of COVID_19, it impacted in multiple organ failure, and last night he had passed away.

Who was he ? He was born on 21st July, 1947 at Meerut. He was an opening batsman, who shared partnership with Sunil Gavaskar during the period of 1970s. He had been a good first class batsman and also a decent test cricketer during his time. His intent is to build innings. At many occasions, he was left out of the team due to heavy competition for the opening spot.

He lastly played during 1981, at the age of 33. After his cricketing career got ended, he became a cricket administrator and worked upon his passion. Then, he joined Bharatiya Janatha Party ( BJP ). He was a member of Lok Sabha from 1991 to 1998. He lost the elections from the same constituency in 1996, 1999 and 2004, finishing fourth on the last occasion. In 2017 he was elected to Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha from Naugawan Sadat (Assembly constituency), and made a minister in Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's government.

Achievements - Chauhan was the first Test cricketer to finish his Test career with over 2000 runs but without a century. As of 15 August 2007, Shane Warne (3154 runs) is the only other player with a similar record. Four others, Trevor Goddard (2516 with one hundred), Alistair Campbell (2858 with two hundreds), Chaminda Vaas (3089 with one hundred) and Anil Kumble (2,506 with one hundred), reached their first hundred after scoring more than 2000 runs.
