Patriots vs Warriors, CPL 2020, Full Match Review

Both St.Kittis & Nevis Patriots and Guyana Amazon Warriors were coming back after a loss in their first match against Barbados Tridents and Tribago Night Riders respectively. So, both the teams needed a win, to stay at the top of the table. Guyana Amazon Warriors have won the toss and decided to field first, and the option of choosing to bowl first, became a regular choice in this year's Caribbean Premier League Edition. Guyana Amazon Warriors were clear that their bowling should firepower as they are having a good batting lineup whereas for St. Kittis and Nevis Patriots, they have made a few changes, as the lacked the pressure handling capacity during the last game.

St. Kittis and Nevis Patriots team came into bat. Although they had lost two wickets inside powerplay, they had made an impressive start especially, the early attacks by Evin Lewis. He smacked the deliveries bowled by Shepherd and Naveen Ul Haq all around the park. Whereas, the positive seen in the point of Warriors team, is Imran Tahir's economical spell during the powerplay. The comeback he made by dismissing Chris Lynn, after being smashed for a six, shows his experience. Then, Keemo Paul, O man ! what a great spell from him. One of the two turning points of the match, is his spell. His idea were so clear. He bowled either at stump line or a shorter line. But his variation in pace along with the field setup, worked perfectly. He banged three good length stump to stump deliveries, then on the fourth ball, he bowled it short, where the batsmen failed to notice and gave away their wickets. The bowling duo of Keemo Paul and Imran Tahir, rattled through the batting order of St. Kittis and Nevis Patriots. On the other hand, middle order woes still haunting the Patriots. Again Ben Dunk, played a good cameo but he didn't use it to his full potent. At the end, St. Kittis and Nevis Patriots posted a score of 127/8 at the end of 20 overs.

Guyana Amazon Warriors came into bat. As same as Patriots, Warriors were also having a good confident start. But, what differs each of the team is that the use of their start by Guyana Amazon Warriors which were lacked at Patriots. Hetmyer, used his opportunity to the fullest, and claimed most of the strike. He played well, especially his pull shots ranging from Deep Square Leg to Deep Long On, where so perfect. Patriots tried bowling short, bowling slower ones changed their lines but still it didn't work. His innings of 71, completely took the game away from Patriots. But, for Guyana Amazon Warriors too, they are having the middle order woes as similar to Patriots, as at one instance the situation were 96/2 at 13 overs, whereas while finishing the game off, the score was 131/7 at the end of 17 overs. Lost 5 wickets for just 35 runs. If Patriots had scored above 150, it would have been a head ache for Warriors. So, it is expected that both the teams would be making changes at their middle order.

Frankly speaking, the start capitalized by Hetmyer made the difference along with the duo combo bowling of Tahir and Paul. Whereas, imagine if Lewis had capitalized his start ? If Patriots had dismissed Hetmyer so quick ?. Or if Patriots had scored more than 160 ? So, both teams have made mistakes, but a team which makes either an important mistake or more number of mistakes ends up on a losing side.

Keemo Paul was awarded Man of the Match. For Delhi Capitals, this will be a heart warming news regarding the form of Hetmyer and Keemo Paul, as both would playing in this year's IPL edition, at next month.
