Postponement of Lankan Premier League
Recently, the number of cases at Sri Lanka, had a small spike in number of COVID_19 Positive cases. Hence, Sri Lanka have either stopped or postponed few events. In that, the inaugral tournament of Sri Lankan T20 Domestic League, officially called Lanka Premier League has been one among them.
The inaugral edition of Lanka Premier League, were scheduled to be played during August 18 to September 20 of this year. But, as per number of evolving cases at Sri Lanka and also with Srilankan Cricket considering the guidelines stipulated by the Ministry of Health Subsequent, has decided to postpone.
The tournament was said to played during the month of November. This seems to be a safer option for the teams. Whereas, for the fans of Indian Premier League, this news gives a happiness in their faces as this means that the Sri Lankan cricketers will be available for this year's Indian Premier League. Lasith Malinga and Isuru Udana are the probable names, featuring in this year's IPL.

But, in addition to that, five teams and their names were announced which seemed slightly an inspiration from the IPL. These teams are based on the cities Colombo, Kandy, Galle, Dambulla, and Jaffna. Also the games were planned to be played at only four stadiums called as Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele International Cricket Stadium and Suriyawewa Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium.
The names of the teams were :
- Colombo Kings
- Galle Gladiators
- Kandy Tuskers
- Jaffna Stallions
- Dambulla Viking
