2020-21 Banglabandu T20 Cup News
What is Bangabandhu T20 Cup ? It is a Twenty20 Competition, featuring five teams which will held in Dhaka, Bangladesh. This tournament has been planned to stage during November 2020 - December 2020. This tournament is a reference for selecting players to West Indies - Bangladesh tour in this early January. Right now, few other important inputs about this tournament has been announced.
Five Corporates have came in to pick teams for Bangabandhu T20 Cup. They are Fortune Barishal, Beximo Dhaka, Minister Group Rajshahi, Gemcon Khulna and Gazi Group Chattogram, with each of these buying a team from BCB for a reported BDT Two Crore each ( US $ 235000 approx. )
Among these, Beximo Dhaka and Gemcon Khulna had previously owned teams from Bangladesh Premier League ( BPL ), named Dhaka Dynamites and Khulna Titans respectively. Whereas Gazi Groups have teams in Dhaka league system.
Players drafting is scheduled to be done on 12th November, 2020 and also on 4th November, Bangladesh Cricket Board ( BCB ) has officially announced that the tournament will commence on same 12th November and will get concluded during December of this year. BCB will use the money earned from franchises to pay their players.
Grade A players ( Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah, Tamim Iqbal and Mustafizur Rahman ) will get BDT 15 lakh (US $18,000 approx) each. In Grade B, twenty cricketers are marked for BDT 10 (US $11,800 approx). Twenty five players in Grade C will earn BDT 6 lakh (US $7,100 approx) while those in Grade D, comprising players from the High Performance setup will earn BDT 4 lakh (US $4,800 approx).
This five team tournament consist of only Bangladeshi cricketers and it is also seen as a stage to hunt youngsters for the future of cricket. Mashrafe Mortaza will miss the tournament due to hamstring injury. Shakib Al Hasan, who hasn't been part of training camp will go through a fitness test on November 9 and 10, to decide whether they make it to the draft. Along with Shakib Al hasan, other 113 players will undergo the same fitness test to decide to availability into this tournament.
Each squad comprises of 15 players, two coaches, one trainer, one physio and a manager. All of them will be included in the bio bubble set up. Bangladesh's overseas coaching staff of Russell Domingo (Head Coach), Daniel Vettori (Spin Bowling Coach), Ottis Gibson (Fast Bowling Coach) and Ryan Cook (Fielding Coach) will take charge of these teams.
