Afghanistan to construct new stadium

Currently, Afghanistan cricket team holds home ground in Ekana Cricket Stadium, located in Lucknow. Before, they had home grounds in Dehradun and at Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. These are adopted home venues, whereas a home ground for their own is the thing still lacking. Now, Afghanistan cricket board has announced about the construction of their home ground in their own country.

Afghanistan's Capital city Kabul, has been selected as the place for construction of home venue. This stadium is currently under construction and as per reports it is said that this Ground will have a capacity of 35,000 seats with a five star grand hotel, a swimming pool, a mosque, health clinic, indoor and outdoor academies, canopies for crowd, car parking, administrative block and other important facilities.

Afghanistan Cricket Board's President Farhan Yusefzai said that "with the construction of new stadium in Kabul, we are expecting to host an international match at our home with mass audiences, reaching out, as it is located in the centre of country".

This stadium is situated in the Alokhail area of Kabul with getting a land of 120000 square metres. Along with this stadium, there are further other plans to construct grounds in the cities of Kabul, Khost, Nangarhar, Paktya, Kunduz, Kandahar, Logar, Wardak, Kunar and Lagman.

Also there are few other local grounds. Members of Afghanistan Cricket Board thanked their President for this massive initiative. Now, the game is expected to reach nook and corners of the country.

Also, as a country, they are expecting to host an International Cricket Council ( ICC ) event in the near future. They have gave a promise that the ground will have qualities similar to the ones in Australia, England and other top ICC nations.

But, the time period for construction of this massive ground is still unknown. Yet, this is a good news for Cricket fans of Afghanistan to cherish.
