BCCI's Annual Meeting - 2020

Just after the finish of 2020 Indian Premier League on October 10th, there were many sources spreading news that, in 2021 Indian Premier League, there will be an addition of two teams in which one will be from Gujarat. Also, as two teams getting added, there will be a mega auction for all teams, enabling them to retain only 5 members, while the remaining will go under the hammer of auction. This news weren't officially confirmed yet. But, now BCCI source confirmed that, the call on addition of new IPL teams will be taken on December 24. 

What happens on December 24 ? In 24th December of this year, there will be an annual meeting for all BCCI's representatives. In this meeting, they are set to sort out most of the issues, in which one such thing is about the planning of Next year's IPL which is scheduled to take off in less than 4 months. First issue is on the selection of Vice President. 

Mahim Verma, has been elected as Vice president, unopposed. In this year's early period, he himself had resigned from the position, which is set to sort out now, due to pandemic period in COVID times. Along with this, selection of two representatives of IPL Governing Council. Even the fate of Sourav Ganguly and Jay Shah, is decided on December 9th by the Supreme Court of India. 

Then, they need to appoint two members for General Body and also need to induct a representative in Indian Cricketers' Association. Will definitely explain the governing limits of Indian Cricketers' Association in the upcoming blog posts. 

Appointments will also be made for the roles of Ombudsman and Ethics Officer, BCCI's representative to the ICC, Cricket Committee and Standing Committee, and the Umpires' Committee. A discussion will also take place on "BCCI's stand on the inclusion of cricket" in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. 

The state representatives will also be updated on the matters of the ICC, the National Cricket Academy, the 2021 World T20 and India's Future Tours Program. So, lock the date, December 24 and December 9th for more coverage of cricket in India. 

Another update on domestic cricket resumption in India is that, Ranji Trophy will begin from 1st January, 2021 with Saurashtra, the defending champions of previous season, will kick start the tournament.
