Indian Women in Australia - 2021 postponed !

As the new COVID virus, takes its another form, and this form is spreading even more faster than before, has created alarming fear in each and every individuals across the world. Along with this, the number of COVID cases, getting reported in Australia has been increasing day by day, particularly at Sydney. Now, this affects the scheduled tour by Indian women to Australia.

Since the Finals of 2020 Women's T20I Cricket World Cup, which was held in the month of March at Melbourne, Indian women haven't played even a single international game, apart from the Women's Challenger Series ( Women's IPL ). They were scheduled to tour Australia in the late January, as Men's team have toured and currently playing in Australia for a long tour. 

But, the raising concerns over the new variant of Corona virus, has started its work by affecting many in the world. Particularly, in the regions like Australia, United Kingdom, South Africa, which are primarily cricket is played, are affected and affecting by the new COVID. In the midst of this, many were expecting that this will be the first match for Indian Women post lock down, which is now announced that the tour has been postponed. 

Cricket Australia interim CEO Nick Hockley hoped the postponed series might be a longer one, with three T20Is added to it. "We are very hopeful of delivering an expanded schedule between the Australian and Indian women's teams for next season, which would be an outstanding result for fans in both countries," Hockley said. 

"We had initially hoped to play India this summer, however the impact of the global pandemic made it necessary to postpone until next season. 

As things stand, India will at best take the field next in February, if a limited-overs assignment against Sri Lanka, presently being discussed between the two boards, does take place - either at home or away.
