Martin Snedden - NZ Cricket's New Chairman

New Zealand have elected their nation's former cricketer, Martin Snedden as their new Chairman. He has played 25 Tests and 93 One Day Games where his career lasted for 10 years, from 1980 to 1990. He will fill the place of Greg Barclay, who has to step down for assuming his duties on International Cricket Council as newly elected Chairman.

Apart from International cricketing career as a bowler, he also has vast experience in serving at top positions. He has been a former executive of New Zealand Cricket and has served as the board member of the organisation from 1990-1992, 1999-2001 and again from 2013-present. He was also a member of the ICC chief executives committee from 2001-2007 and comes with a vast experience in the business of sport, having held roles as chief executive of Rugby World Cup 2011, Duco Promotions, and Tourism Association NZ, as well as being a director of the World Masters Games 2017.

After his selection as Chairman, Martin Snedden said that " I'd like to thank Greg, who has gave us a right direction to serve and lead since 2016. It is a measure of success he has overseen in this role that he has been now elected in the new ICC Chair position "

"Equally, I'd like to thank my fellow NZC directors for their support. I know that, together with chief executive David White and his excellent management team, we'll help lead the sport out of this global pandemic and embrace a strong and sustainable future.

"I look forward to working with the members of NZC, the Major Associations and Districts Associations, as well as the New Zealand Cricket Players Association and the wider cricket family in New Zealand."

During his tenure as a board member from 2013, New Zealand cricket had seen some more raise in their cricket. Their performance across all three formats, started to dominate. Only thing that pricks them is they are yet to win an ICC Trophy. Yet, their performances in the ICC Tournaments, held during this period, shows their triumph and their skills. Can we expect New Zealand to clinch a single title ? Only Time knows.
