Inequalities present in Women's Cricket !
Cricketers Allysa Healy and Heather Knight, had urged the International Cricket Council ( ICC ), to sort out the inequalities present in womens' game. This document of 31 pages has been submitted to FICA (Federation of Cricketers' Association), which consists of many issues. After 2018, this has been the second time where top cricketers came out, rising about the importance of women's cricket.
The first thing, these two have asked to sort out is to add funds for developing women's cricket. Insufficient funds, making the team competition less when compared to the men's. Also, these centralised funds will accelerate the game and spread its professionalism.
To attain gender equity, we need to join as a group and address all barriers in the international standards. "As a player, we understand the difference in the financial situations of each and every countries for supporting womens' cricket", they said.
"At [the] global level, we think there is an opportunity for the ICC to prioritise increased and targeted investment in the game around the world, not just in global events. This could include for example more centralised funds to assist the professionalisation of the game in more countries and to ensure more cricket can be played."
Also as per the findings of the report by the members of FICA, 46 % of the cricketers have highlighted the fact, renumeration, also called as the salary payment as the main issue. Many women cricketers feel that, job security is also a concern. Because, of the contract process. Currently, the women cricketers playing on contract basis, has a period of a year or less than a year.
Many have stated that the number of One Day Internationals needed to increased in women's cricket. Even though, this period of cricket is seen as the T20 era, women wanted to test themselves more in the medium format, ODI. Only England and Australia have recently played a test series, whilst other nations haven't played even a single game for past 6 years.
Also, number of women cricketers were so low, when compared to men, which is due to family issues and job security of each women. This number needs to be increased. England, Australia and New Zealand are the three nations, which supports semi contract structures. This structure is now needed to followed by other cricket playing nations.
