Corey Anderson announces International Retirement !!
NZ's Top All Rounder, Corey Anderson has announced his retirement from International Cricket. Aged 29, why has he announced his retirement from International cricket ? Many all rounders in this world, face the issue of getting separated, as many newer cricketers continue to dominate in this competitive form of game. So developing skills, is the most important asset to survive. Corey Anderson's case is the same as many.
He holds the record of scoring fastest century in ODI, overtaking Shahid Afridi's record in just 1 ball. He has been a phenomenal left arm medium fast bowler. He has picked up 60 wickets in 49 ODI matches along with 16 wickets in 13 test matches. He has also scored 2000+ runs in International cricket. In his 6 years of career span, these numbers are not so encouraging. Also, in his career, after 2015 Cricket World Cup, he was seen going under a tough downtrodden period. In this downtrodden, he was lacking variation in his bowling and also started getting obese. NZ Cricket team has dropped him after 2018.
Cricketers like Irfan Pathan, RP Singh, James Faulkner etc faced same set of problems. They were like a pole star during their early face of career. But after started to face slight slump, they can't able to rise up, as they didn't worked much on variations. So, after facing hardships, he finally announced his retirement from International Cricket.
Corey Anderson said that "It's been a huge honor and extremely proud to represent New Zealand. I would have loved to have achieved and played more but just is what it is sometimes, and different opportunities arise and send you in a direction you never thought would be a possibility. Very appreciative for everything that NZC has done for me".
