2021 SA vs AUS tour postponed !

At South Africa, due to the second wave of Corona Virus targeting each and every people, irrespective of their background, with cases raising day by day at an average of 10,000 numbers, Cricket Australia have decided to postpone this tour. So, hence this tour has been postponed with both cricketing boards agreeing to the reasons mutually.

South Africa was experiencing over 10,000 positive cases every day, with a peak of 21,980 on January 8. Numbers have since dropped to an average of 5000 per day, but with Variant 501.Y.V2 now rampant, and possibly spreading more easily than COVID -19, even CSA's best efforts were not enough to persuade Australia to tour.

On the other hand, the lockdown has been eased out in South Africa, with beaches and parks are kept open along with public gatherings getting allowances. Unlike countries like India, and USA, South Africa didn't receive the vaccine to cure COVID-19. So, many are feared of this disease and it is better to postpone this series.

"Due to the public-health situation in South Africa, which includes a second wave and new variant of the virus, and following extensive due diligence with medical experts, it has become clear that travelling from Australia to South Africa at this current time poses an unacceptable level of health and safety risk to our players, support staff and the community," Nick Hockley, Cricket Australia's interim CEO, said.

But, as this tour got postponed, it if officially announced that New Zealand will be the first team to qualify for the finals of Inaugral ICC World Test Championship. Now, the question is does Australia has a chance of qualifying for the finals ?

All remains on the results of the upcoming India vs England, Test Series. For India, they need to with margins of 5-0, 4-0, 4-1, 3-0, 3-1, 2-0 and 2-1. For England, 4-0, 3-0 and 3-1. Whereas for Australia, they would be dying to get results as 2-2, or India getting 1-0. But, here I find Team India to be the most probable side to qualify.

Australia's qualification chances worsen due to their loss against India, at home in recently concluded Border Gavaskar Trophy Series
