BCCI introduces new fitness rules !
Few Years ago, Indian cricket Captain, M S Dhoni had introduced the Yo-Yo test for Team India. This Yo-yo test has revolutionised the fitness of Team India, with many becoming quick and energetic on field. Also, it had left many players unfit and removed them. Currently, fitness is being an important aspect of each and every sportsman all over the world. To, improve the game, right now, BCCI has announced an extra fitness test, and is set to implement in coming months.
This fitness test is done along with Yo-Yo Test. BCCI has introduced 2 km time trials to measure speed and endurance levels in its training programme for Players of Team India. It will be mandatory for both contracted players, and also for those who are dying hard to find a spot in the national side.
A BCCI Official has said that, current fitness rule had played a huge role in getting our fitness back and making it to the next level. After reaching this benchmark, now it is important to break that barrier and set a new fitness level and this time trial will help team India to compete better among the world.
Also, it is said that, the BCCI will update its fitness standards each and every year. As per the new norm, the fast bowlers need to complete 2 kms of distance in 8 minutes and 15 seconds. For batsman, wicket keepers and spinners, the benchmark is 8 minutes and 30 seconds.
If an athlete completes the distance of 2 km in 6 minutes, he will be termed as elite while if an athlete completes the distance by taking 15 minutes, he is called as amateurs.
This test will definitely be important criteria for selection of Team India in 2021 ICC T20 World Cup. Players in contention for spots in the white-ball series against England (5 T20Is and 3 ODIs) will undergo the test. It is likely that the test will be carried out in the months of February, June, and August/September.
Former Indian Cricketer, Ramji Srinivasan has said that, a time-trial is better than yo-yo test, where none can cheat the time. This will test the speeds, threshold zones and your plan on completing a run etc.
Will yo-yo test be continued ? It will, yes. The border margin for passing the yo-yo test is 17:1. So, now along yo-yo test, this time trial will also be conducted for the betterment of Team India in the coming future.
Well explained!
